Description

Skills lectures

BARBRI SQE2 Prep's faculty consists of experienced solicitors and barristers who are qualified in England and Wales, they will guide you to master the skills required to succeed in SQE2. The Skills Explanations, available as interview-style lectures, are wholly examination-driven, and are carefully crafted to fully interpret the exam criteria and give you tips on how to succeed.

Workbooks

BARBRI will provide you with a short workbook to supplement the skills explanations.

Scaffolding activities

These are guided interactive learning activities which will take the knowledge you have gained watching the Skills Explanations and reading the workbook and apply it to an exam style scenario. Each activity breaks down the different steps you’ll need to master each skill assessed in SQE2.

Self-practice

With our self-practice activities, you get the opportunity to have a go at doing a whole exam question yourself. You’ll receive instant access to self-assessment materials so you can confidently review your own work. You’ll find out how you’re doing, where you can improve, and you’ll even have the chance to mark your peers’ work and have them mark yours, too.

Practice feedback

This is the most valuable asset on the SQE2 course. You have the opportunity to get individual personalised feedback from a BARBRI assessor in every skill assessed in SQE2 through Practice Feedback Activities.

As well as workshops, there'll be strategy sessions and Office Hours sessions, where you drop in to meet your mentors. They'll guide you on anything from how to tackle questions and improve your skills to queries about your own progress.

Mock exams

Before you sit SQE2, you’ll complete mock assessments and receive personal feedback from a BARBRI assessor in each skill and subject assessed in SQE2.

Skills you'll be tested on:

  • Client interviewing (and attendance note)
  • Advocacy
  • Case and matter analysis
  • Legal research and written advice
  • Legal writing
  • Legal drafting

Subjects you'll be tested in:

  • Criminal Litigation (including advising clients at the police station)
  • Dispute Resolution
  • Property Practice
  • Wills and Intestacy, Probate Administration and Practice
  • Business organisations, rules and procedures (including money laundering and financial services)

FAQs

Study method describes the format in which the course will be delivered. At Reed Courses, courses are delivered in a number of ways, including online courses, where the course content can be accessed online remotely, and classroom courses, where courses are delivered in person at a classroom venue.

CPD stands for Continuing Professional Development. If you work in certain professions or for certain companies, your employer may require you to complete a number of CPD hours or points, per year. You can find a range of CPD courses on Reed Courses, many of which can be completed online.

A regulated qualification is delivered by a learning institution which is regulated by a government body. In England, the government body which regulates courses is Ofqual. Ofqual regulated qualifications sit on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF), which can help students understand how different qualifications in different fields compare to each other. The framework also helps students to understand what qualifications they need to progress towards a higher learning goal, such as a university degree or equivalent higher education award.

An endorsed course is a skills based course which has been checked over and approved by an independent awarding body. Endorsed courses are not regulated so do not result in a qualification - however, the student can usually purchase a certificate showing the awarding body's logo if they wish. Certain awarding bodies - such as Quality Licence Scheme and TQUK - have developed endorsement schemes as a way to help students select the best skills based courses for them.
